Monmouth vintage USA pottery maple leaf brown tan stoneware crock without lid

A vintage crock marked with a maple leaf and USA on the bottom. The maple leaf seems to indicate it was made by Monmouth or Western Stoneware (as Monmouth was later known). The vintage is unclear. I believe this piece probably had a lid originally but it does not have one now. It measures 4.25" tall and 3.5" across the opening. There are a few marks in the glaze but no chips or cracks. Smoke- and pet-free home.
