Mid Century Japanese Vintage Black Lacquer Music Jewelry Geisha Girl Mirror Box

A large vintage Japanese musical jewelry box. It features beautiful symbolic Japanese scripture, a secret drawer, and a rare revolving Geisha girl. Unlike most other vintage Japanese boxes, it features a simple yet stylish gold-colored decoration as opposed to the multi-colored landscape scenes. It dates to the 1950s and is in good vintage condition, with some imperfections and losses, including to lacquer and the feet (stands sturdy), as shown at pictures. Length:  12”

 Height:  8” The box has a stylish streamlined design & a beautiful glossy black lacquered finish. The front doors feature large Japanese scripture relating to Good Fortune & Long Life. The interior has 3 storage drawers + a further secret drawer concealed behind the bottom one. The compartment to the right features panelled mirrors & revolving Geisha girl in colorful patterned handmade Kimono. The drawers and base of the compartment have lovely red Jacquard type fabric linings.
