Tonala pottery takes its name from the town of Tonalá, located in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. This town has been a center for pottery production since pre-Columbian times. The tradition of creating Tonala pottery has deep historical roots, influenced by ancient civilizations such as the Aztecs and the Mayans.
