bigislewahine Yes I am. Born & raised on the Big Island (Papaikou- a plantation community on the outskirts of Hilo); lived in Kailua-Kona (west side of the island) for the past 15yrs before moving here to Georgia a couple of mos ago.

hila808 Oh no way I love your tag name. I have always wanted to live on the Big Island especially in a plantation community. Waipahu, where I grew up on Oahu used to have those plantation houses but they took it down & built new homes. Oahu is changing so fast which makes me sad bc I feel like it's getting to congested & losing the natural island beauty. @bigislewahine

hila808 I was hesitant to put up Hawaiian jewelries bc I wasn't sure if people fr the mainland were interested or appreciate the beauty & intricate work out into it. I grew up making jewelries, leis or anything do with my hands. My dad & uncles make genuine Koa wood jewelry boxes. Super cool watching them make it growing up. So bless though bc that helped my siblings pay our way to college. How is living up there in Georgia? I have never been there but been to the Carolinas. @bigislewahine

bigislewahine Yeah the house I grew up in was over 70yrs old before my parents had it remodeled because of termites about 7yrs ago. The Kona side of the Big Island is kinda like a mini version of Honolulu...growing a lot faster than the Hilo side. Sad to see the natural beauty being destroyed by hotels, condos, etc. 😔

bigislewahine Georgia is def different. The place where iʻm @ (Toccoa) has a really small town mentality which is somewhat hard to understand/deal with but the ppl for the most part are friendly. I've def gone from being in the majority (as an Asian) to the minority (again).

hila808 @nanarae2013 Aloha Rachel. It looks like ladies and men's sizes are numerically the same. The difference is that the men's sizes typically is the width of the band. In this case for this ring, the vendor suggested if the men finger is thicker then go size 1/2 to 1 up since traditionally ladies rings have narrow or thinner bands.
