sunsetdrivevntg the clasp on the safety chain is an unusual one. my wife had trouble opening the clasp. until I showed her. I can try to walk you through it

sunsetdrivevntg if you have fingernails, the clasp is much easier to operate. if you look at the end of the safety clasp there are two ridges. pinch your finger and thumb together to put your finger nails in between those two ridges, then spread your fingers apart using your nails to push those ridges in opposite directions
