I’ll be adding new items to my closet here as I clear out my closets and cabinets of things that haven’t been seen or heard from in years or that I’ve moved on from. I do enjoy buying and collecting stuff, but space for everything becomes an issue—I’m working (unsuccessfully) on that tendency/addiction. I donated my right kidney to a stranger a few years ago (non-directed donation), and some of my items I won’t be using because I modified my lifestyle thereafter (I never went back to Bikram yoga, didn’t wear the bikini and cover-ups), but it was the best decision I’ve made in my life—to make as many positive ripples as I can while I’m here. I want to leave you with some words from my Dad, who was unparalleled in every way and was my heart and the love of my life: “Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.” I try to make sure I do so figuratively and literally every day. I try not to be so focused on work and achieving that I forget to enjoy the journey, and I always stop and smell the roses when I’m on my walks. “Let it roll off you like water off a duck.” Don’t beat yourself up over, or be bothered by, things that are not going to even be a line on a page in the story of your life. Forgive yourself. Forgive them. Give yourself grace. Let it go. Move on. Eat that piece of cake.
