cosmicmoon26 I love your dog family. We have four rescues, 2 cats and 2 dogs. Elton is our "special mission" guy and has Cushings, no gall bladder, early heart worm damage and a foot issue from a broken bone that did not heal right. He is my little heartbeat ❤

cosmicmoon26 @olddogmom oh my! So you do portraits? Fun how our true passion is not always the path we walk in life. The heart is strong and leads us to our deepest passions. I find later in life as we too slow down a bit and take notice or inventory, we connect with our heartstrings. In my case, dogs and recreation in a beautiful environment I had no clue that I would move to. By doing so, our animals really benefited.

cosmicmoon26 @olddogmom Elton came from the Dallas Humane Society where he was rescued from euthanasia from the ASPCA! I found him on petfinder while entertaining the thought of a companion to Sophie, who had been abandoned in our area. Long story but in short, Elton was the ONLY dog that she met and apparently understood his plight because she dropped her mean attitude toward dogs.

olddogmom @tracijones1 You are correct. The two larger ones, are brother and sister. I breed them and showed them. They will be 13 in December. The little papillon I got from a breeder. But he was pretty much a rescue. She was in poor health and couldn't train him, so he has people issues. I rescued the little red one. She is a bright light. She supports the pap and she runs competitive agility with me. And I became a professional dog trainer in my retirement. Sat for an exam and everything; CPDT-KA 😊

tracijones1 @olddogmom Wow what a great accomplishment doing something you love. What breed are the sister and brother? My mother has had 3 Golden retrievers that are her fur babies. She is down to only Murphy a 2 yr old. Daisy had cancer and Gracie passed this last spring break of a heart attack both were 14 yrs. my mom was heart broken. All of them were therapy dogs and would take them to the hospital twice a week to be with patients.

olddogmom @tracijones1 The brother and sister are Norwegian Elkhounds. Wonderful dogs. My girl and her mom were therapy dogs and a male I had before them would go to see my father when he was in an Alzheimer's facility. I think a dog's purpose is to help us through life. Hugs to your mom.

tracijones1 @olddogmom well they are beautiful. My mother is visiting me today and over the weekend. We just got back from my birthday dinner. I’ve been sharing with her your pictures and post. I told her you said hugs and she said how sweet of you!! I’m sitting here with lily on my lap and one of my cats purring at the top of the chair by my head. Lily turned yrs on July 4th and Matilda the cat is 15 yrs

sherid10 He’s very much his own “dog”. Loves his Mama. Wants me in his sight all the time. He’s 18 months. Then I have an 8 yr old Boston and figured he’d be just fine. Went back to get them. The young one was perfect and the Boston gave them a fit!!

drjeannie0208 My mom loved her schnauzer and then their second one! My dad even wrote a children’s book about Chase! I will have to post it! I am partial to my mom’s tribute which I listed, but this book are short vignettes as seen through the eyes of our sweet Chase!

Solely because he was the biggest eater (I visited 4 times before taking him home) but after nursing, didn’t join the pile to sleep it off. He found his own spot to rest. He still does.
