I've known since I was 15 that I never wanted to be a mother to human but I've always been a Pet Mom. Currently our fur children are a 20-yr-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix named Bebe, a tiny little black shorthair named Lil' Kitty, an Orange Tabby named Oliver, a long-haired 17- year-old, once feral, cat named Oddball. We adopted him from our neighbors when they moved & of course there's our baby - a totally spoiled yet oh so precious 2.5 ft long, 30lb Maine Coon mix, Buddy. (You can see more of our cuuuutest boy on IG @buddy.the.maine.coon.cat! I have not posted on there in ages tho! I really should bc he's the cuuuuutest boy in the world! 🥰) #AdoptDontShop! 😻

baseball_jen @mzcubs Yeah, I understand completely. I couldnt live without cats! I love my dog but my cats are my life! Hermione's (the 17 yr old) brother Harry passed in January 2014 and thinking about my "#1 son" as I called him (he was my only male animal, except my rat who I loved too!) still upsets me a lot. Esp. when hood old FB reminds me every year! LOL!

baseball_jen @mzcubs But the addition of Buddy (the main coon) who my fiance brought home almost a year later as a Christmas gift has really helped with Harry being gone. They are/were both total momma's boys but Harry was extra special. He loved everyone and would meow at the door if someone knockef like a dog and he'd talk constantly!

baseball_jen @mzcubs It was how I found him and Hermione at the pound. I walked by and wouldnt have seen the two tiny black cats in the dark cage but he was meowing at me and so they both came home with me! #AdoptDontShop I will never go to a pound again tho - that was a terrible experience! But I got my dog when she was 6 (she's 14 or 15 now) bc her "owner" was going to take her back to the pound. And Lil' Kitty woulda gone too if I hadnt taken her!!

baseball_jen @mzcubs Budfy came from a hone where this woman had 2 cats bit then they had a litter, and the litters had more litters and kittens were dying, had fleas and worms ... it was the most awful thing Ive ever seen. (Our friend was renting a room from her, not anymore tho!) So Keary saved one and brought him home. We couldnt decide on a name and finally just called him Buddy bc I just called him "my lil' Buddy." LOL!

baseball_jen @mzcubs So Ive got a buncha rescues. If I ever won the lottery (altho playing the lottery might help my chances! Haha!) I'd build an indoor/outdoor cat housing place where they'd all be safe, well taken care of, fixed, worm & flea free ... itd be my cat santuary and they'd be allowed to stay their whole lives & they'd of course be open to be adopted. That's so my true dream. Yup, Im the crazy cat lady!! LOL

baseball_jen @mzcubs I so understand!! Recently this past winter woke up in the middle of a snow storm bc I could hear a kitten crying. We spent 3 hours outside trying to get it out from under this bush in the snow! I was laying in my stomach trying to get it. Finally tho we saw an adult cat run into our yard, get close and then run away.

baseball_jen @mzcubs We hoped it was the kitten's mom. And after those hours in the snow we decided to give the cat a chance. The kitten was gone later that day. I can only hope that the kittens mom got it! I also get not knowing if you are ready after a loss. I pretty much made my mom get one too early about 6 mos after we lost "Big Kitty" (he was only likev7 lbs but he was Kitty & when we got Maddie he was bigger so hence the "Big" part.

baseball_jen @mzcubs But my friends cat was having kittens and they were part Siamese like my mom's first cat and I told her that if one was born all white with blue eyes she would have to take it. It was kismet bc one of the litter was born completely whit with blue eyes and turned out exactly like her first cat. He looks lime a pure bred Seal Point Siamese! I havent a clue how I new that would happen but it did!

baseball_jen @mzcubs I wasnt sure I was ready for Buddy even tjo itd only bern a year but he was soooo small with these big sad eyes and won me kver in about 2 min. Lityle did we know he was a Maine Coon. He's now 2 1/2, 30lbs and has so much hair that brushing him twice a day with a dog brush doesnt help ...and Maine Coons are supposed to keep growing until they are 5! He's not pure bred but it will be a challenge if he ends up being 4 ft long! LMAO!!!

baseball_jen @crystal_maiden That is so cool! I dont know exactly where/what Theatre of the Sea is - bit Im assuming a shelter or something? Which is really cool!! There are a ton of feral cats where I live (in the mountains) and I want to help them all, the poor lil' things! I cant bring em home but I try to bring food for the one that lives at the local market when I can! The store owners and staff take care of him too bit its still so sad. I eish I could do more!

Whats crazy is we have the same name, love animals, I literally used to have 8 piecings on ea. ear, tongue, (still have nipples and top belly button), nose, eyebrow, bottom belly button, lip and I hsd a couple dermals for awhile on my hips and my chest but they never really healed

crystal_maiden @baseball_jen Theater of The Sea is like a tiny sea world :) the owner Kenny also put aside a sanctuary for the overpopulated cats on the island (islamorada, FL). cs_jojo My goodness, makes me miss my babies, I had a stray cat that I was feeding very wild for a time, until we learned to trust each other, one day she brought me her 4 babies and I just couldn't let any of them go, well I had most of them for almost 14yrs until one right after the other ended up very sick, the hardest thing I had to do was let them all go, now I can't bring myself to get another, they were all like my kids, love ❤️ this picture. Thank You for the wonderful reminder. ❤️💕🙏

baseball_jen @jojo826 Oh my goodness! That is an amazing story - heartwarming and sweet and heartbreaking as well AND you said it all in 500 characters! (which is honestly totally remarkable! My 1st cats (that werent family pets) were Harry, who passed three years ago and I still miss him every single day, was my #1 son as I always told him. But when I wasnt ready my bf brought home Buddy and turns out I was ready! He's such a mamas boy like Harry. You dont have to be ready but be open! Bc 🐈 are AMAZING! 😊

leann48 @baseball_jen thanks for sharing your babies with us. They are all beautiful. I have been running a rescue out of my house for years, for kitties, or any creature that needs help. I couldn't have kids but my life is full with my babies. They fill my life with love and silliness. :) xo

baseball_jen @leann48 You are welcome! I dont plan to have kids nc I hsve enough trouble taking care of myself, my house & my animals as it is! Plus I was a nanny 6 days a week for 8 years (she is now 22! OMG!) so my gur babies are all I need and I love them more than anything. I have about an acre of land right now but it has always been my dream to have an indoor/outdoor enclosed (I live in the mtns and no one gets eaten on my watch! LOL!) areas and kennels for dogs & cats who need homes. !

baseball_jen @leann48 They coukd stay forever but would be available for adoption too. And really it would be for any critter that needed a home. Animals are the absolute best! Since my big dream is too expensive to be realized and my property prob too small, my initial goal is to build an outdoor enclosure for my cats that they could go into from inside but get to experience a littke of the outside world.

I have a post on my page where you can comment but on @kdslack2's page has the names of the other poshers who have fur babies and dont care if a home is "pet free" LOL! I cant even imagibe a pet free home!

leann48 @baseball_jen don't ever give up on that dream. You could always start a fundraiser, or do all kinds of things to raise extra funds. We have nine inside, and a few outside. I had a large feral colony when I started but between fixing and vetting every one we could get our hands on, it has brought the population down. And of course we have lost some to injury and disease, which always breaks our hearts..

leann48 @baseball_jen Animals are a huge part of our lives. I am on disability and ill on a daily basis, and my babies give me love and make me laugh every day. I am grateful for them. It gets tough with the care and cost but they are worth it. I don't think I could ever fully trust a person who don't like or love animals. They are among God's greatest gifts to us. xo

baseball_jen @hambam247 And the entire crew! Although sadly, Hermione recently passed on Nov. 27 but she was 17 and lived a spoiled life. Her brother's passing hit me a lot harder - he was just 13. Then there's the dog, Buddy the MainCoon and Lil' Kitty. :-) Just wanted to share! LOL!

baseball_jen @skittenmitten8 Honestly, I have no idea! He's the coolest cat tho! He is around 15-16 yrs old & was a feral cat when my neighbor adopted him - which is hard to believe bc even after 15 yrs most feral cats are still not all lovey like he is! We adopted him a year or 2 ago when our neighbors moved. He's older & knows the area/environment here & my neighbor was moving to a more urban area.

baseball_jen @skittenmitten8 It just seemed like a better idea to keep him here. I'd always feed him when they were outta town & told my skeptical husband that they'd get along & now he's fallen in love w/Oddball too! He is a total bada** - he's taken on raccoons and brought us a dead bat as a gift once (kinda scary but he's fine so it's cool to look back on now! Lol!) - and he's also the most gentle soul in the world. Sorry I can't answer your question, but I had to tell you about how cool he is! 😻😻

mindypnw Your kitties and dog are so cute! You are a amazing mom to them and they are so lucky to have you! I always say if I ever win the lottery I would open a dog sanctuary for all the homeless dogs and they would stay there and get lots of love until they find there forever home. ❤️ Pets are so special and give us so much unconditional love! I have always felt if anyone abuses a animal it should be the same punishment as if it was a human. There should be 0 tolerance!

baseball_jen @mindypnw I've seriously ALWAYS wanted to do that too! I'd have a dog side & a cat side! All enclosed so everyone is safe but both inside & outside - they could come & go but like the cat outside would have to be completely caged in - like part roof & part like wire ... cats are sneaky! The dog outside part would have a roof (for like rain but then prob would be open & then indoor areas for both!

Haven't exactly gotten to the details of how I'd orient different breeds of dogs or organize the inside & you'd need a team of people & vets to help (probably why I've never gotten that far along but I do have a mental picture!

He fought & tortured & killed dogs, went to prison(so that's good) but then he got out, got a new big nfl contract & after retiring got paid more money to be a broadcaster! I'm like ... WTF?! That's such crap. At least he got some punishment but then just getting to be rich & famous again?! 🤬🤬🤬 Obnoxious & wrong!

Well, actually my dog is not a kid anymore - she could go to a bar! She's hanging in there at 21 but Idk how much longer she has. That's the only downfall with pets.

baseball_jen @mindypnw We've decided no more cats/dogs after these guys, its just so hard to say goodbye - definitely a rat though! Friendly, loving, so smart, easily trained & if they make it to 3 yrs they've had a good life! One of my rats in the past made it to 7! Some people don't like them so I'm also a bit of a pet rat advocate any chance I get!😂 They are incredibly smart & fun! Thanks again 4 saying hi! 🐕🐈🐈‍⬛🐀😻

mindypnw @baseball_jen hi Jen, if I ever win the lottery I will have to hire you to help come up with a plan. It sounds like you have a lot thought out. 20 years old is old for a dog. Our Chihuahua is 18 and just recently started acting older. 😞 Her eyes look like they are getting cloudy. 😢 11 years old is so old for a rat! I know they usually get tumors and don’t usually live very long. My granddaughters have a pet rat and he is so friendly and so cute! 😊

mindypnw @baseball_jen Micheal Vick is disgusting!! I can’t believe he was able to return to the NFL! My husband said he had to get a lot of help and counseling before they would let him play again but it doesn’t change the past and what he allowed to happen to a innocent dogs. 😢 He probably wouldn’t of stopped if he didn’t get caught. 😡
