The Doe is gazing down at it's Fawn that is beside her. The doe has her left hoof and leg up, the right leg is firmly planted on the ground.
The deer are standing in some leafing and vegetation. Excellent dimensional art pottery. Buff, yellow and green tones are well mixed into the scene and animals. McCoy USA on bottom. McCoy Potteries was first conceived by W. N. McCoy in 1848 when he opened a Small Factory. Several changes in ownerships occurred and In April 1910, Nelson McCoy (Senior), with help from his father, J.W. McCoy, established the Nelson McCoy Sanitary and Stoneware Company in Roseville, Ohio. The pottery produced utilitarian stoneware and operated successfully until about 1918. Later, Nelson McCoy, Jr. operated the pottery under different names until it was sold in 1967. This is a classic art pottery piece, the Deer with Fawn Planter by McCoy Pottery Company, circa; 1940-1960. These animal figurines are valuable and seem to hold more value and appreciate faster than the single color McCoy art objects. See photos
