The store was founded by Shale Baskin and was a well-known Chicago clothier for over eight decades. At its peak, Mark Shale had about a dozen stores in the Midwest and the South. Some of its customers included Phil Jackson, Toni Kukoc, A.J. Pierzynski, Jerry Reuss, Bob Costas, and John Callaway.
