Mamajuana is considered the liquor drink of the Dominican Republic. It was originally invented in the 1950s as a medicinal drink. It is a popular drink sold to the locals and tourist and commonly available at restaurants, pubs and restaurants. It is said "whatever tortures you, Mamajuana takes care of it". Traditionally, the Mamajuana herbs are fermented with sweet wine, rum and honey to produce a sweet rum liquor. It is considered a vitality, aphrodisiac stimulant for both men and women.
