does the front strap, over toes, stretch?

No, the elasticized band over the front toes does not stretch and I have only worn the shoes one or two times and have not noticed a stretch. I like the way the band is secured so this few little movement or sliding of feet.
The ankle band does stretch and you may be able to see the expandable band in the picture. I hope this helps!
