-Rare piece from WWIl era.
-Excellent vintage condition.
-Unsigned, but attributed to Miriam Haskell per:
-Similar shell brooch on page 152 from the book "Miriam Haskell Jewelry" by Cathy Gordon and Sheila Pamtiloft (see 2nd to last photo). That item was also unsigned, as pieces were not signed until the late 1940s.
-Use of small, translucent colored glass beads as featured in many other Haskell pieces.
-Natural clam seashells flower petals with iridescent and pearlized coatings.
-Shells and beads are hand wired into the center and onto a pierced plastic plate back. The shortage of metal during World War II meant substituting metal backs with a pierced plastic back with the similar regularly placed holes. (See last photo.)
-Metal C clasp.
-Approximately 3”.
