Rare barkcloth bed skirt or fabric from the 40s or 50s, with a leaf motif and gold highlights (see color of little lines). This wonderful, retro, mid century modern fabric is mostly just dingy, yellowed in some places, with 2 light stains (pix 10/11), and a small worn spot (circled pix 6, pleat after pix 7). It's homemade and attached to a flat, double bed sheet that is aged, with staining near the edge (top montage), a repair (lower montage, and to left of inset), and a few tiny tears. The skirt is also lined with aged sheeting, with one stain.
If lower lighting, it may be useable as is. It's not blatantly dirty (see 2nd to last photo) and the sheeting is hidden. However, this piece is best for someone not intimidated by vintage textiles that need restoration, and being sold AS IS. So please ask any questions before purchasing.
It might be cleanable by a good cleaner that does drapes. But barkcloth is sturdy, washable cotton (search how to wash barkcloth, and Retro Clean, mild sodium perborate bleach used by restorers; larger amounts found via cleaner supply). The sheet will likely get clean enough, but could be replaced.
It's also 6+ yards x 19" wide swell barkcloth for making lots of pillows, short curtains, clothing, etc.
