One of the most famous childrens prints, the Marimekko Bo Boo print is the ideal mix of primary color and playful imagery. Designed by Japanese artist Katsuji Wakisaka in 1975, the Bo Boo print takes the wheel as cars, trucks, busses and vans of all colors zoom across the solid background of this bustling scene. Excellent condition. Fits sizes infant-2t
History:
Marimekko presented its first dedicated childrens collection, marketed under the names Mini-Unikko and Pikku Bo Boo (the latter featuring the primary-coloured cars and trucks you see on your robes hood and cuffs).
This is the first time the company publicly offered textile and clothing items specifically for babies and toddlers, and it included terry bath items. The new kids line was rolled out to retailers; catalogues from 2004 show hooded infant bathrobes in the Pikku Bo Boo and Mini-Unikko prints.
Marimekko opened its first kids-only flagship store in Helsinki and again highlighted toddlers bathrobes in seasonal look-books.
The style stayed in the line for more than a decade and was still sold new in the mid-2010s.
