When Kristina Torsson came to Gotland, she had long experience of dress design as one of her generation's most exciting creators. In 1966 she founded the clothing brand Mah-Jong together with Helena Henchen and Veronica Nygren and ran the company for eleven years until 1977. Mah-Jong revolted against fashion and made colorful clothes for all ages. Groundbreaking were the corduroy suits and patterned silk-knit shirts for men. But even the women felt liberated in Mah-Jong's strong colors and permissive forms. In the Vamlingbolaget collection, several of Mah-Jong's designs still live on.
