Luxurious Hand Embroidered Fall Coat

Glorious hand needlework, embroidered with the love and imagination of women in the regions of the former Ottoman Empire. The creation of such a coat is begun at the birth of a daughter and continued by her family and friends throughout her lifetime in preparation for her bridal dowry. It is a symbol of all of the love, wealth, and support, a woman brings with her as she leaves her nest and enters a new chapter to create a life of her own. The complexity of the textiles shine the rich energy they were created with. With a base of white cotton, threads dyed with natural materials such as madder, cochineal, indigo, walnut, pomegranate, sumak, and others, are used to illustrate regal Ottoman Empire & Mediterranean motifs-- sun and moon disks, meandering grapevines, tulips, carnations, irises, pomegranates (a traditional symbol of fertility & abundance), and occasionally fish (a happy life) and birds (messengers of the divine). This coat is new, its design is unique, and there are no duplicates in this world.
