One of the oldest stoneware companies in the US, Louisville Pottery formed in 1815 and when sold in 1970 became Louisville Stoneware. Still manufacturing stoneware at their location in the Highlands section of Louisville, Kentucky and using clay from western Indiana that may be up to 250 million years old.
This blue 4 crosses chalis holds 16 oz. and weighs 1 lb. 3 oz. Note, there is a small 1/8" area at the rim where there may have been an air bubble in the paint because under magnification, I can see the stoneware and glaze, but no paint, please see close-up pic. Each side of the chalis including all 4 crosses are shown in the pictures for your review.
The stamp at the bottom of the chalis states oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. To avoid cracking or breakage, just wait for this chalis to resume to room temperature prior to transferring to a different appliance. For example, it should cool down from the dishwasher prior to refrigerating and warm up from the refrigerator before washing.
