A special doll designed in 1988 by Loretta Daum Byrne, dressed in a Native American beaded shift. Hair is clean and soft but needs rebraiding- originally in three braids. Her body is hard plastic and her head with rooted hair is vinyl. Loretta signed her name on the back of the doll's head, which leads me to believe she made the vinyl head too - especially after reading about her. She was an amazing Native American artist who unfortunately left us just this past October 2. From her obituary: Loretta was a very creative and accomplished artist, designer, writer and seamstress. She attended Layton School of Art in Milwaukee and her soft sculptured dolls have been exhibited in countless galleries and museums. Her banners, watercolors, wall hangings and tapestries also hang in private collections, churches, and offices across the nation. She was a contributing editor and columnist in several national crafting magazines over the years.
