This is a shell - I have worn it once skiing and it provided pretty good warmth for a shell. Very flattering if it is worn out and about too either zipped or non zipped! There are also buttons which is always great for style and wear. You can take the hood off and it is super versatile with many pockets. Let me know if you need more pictures. There are NO stains whatsoever on this jacket - I have worn it maybe 3 times. Waterproof too - rain slips right off.
