You might come across a pair of Levis with just the trademark and wrote them off as a fake, HOWEVER, they are intentionally designed with the almost blank tab. Since the tab is copied the world over, it requires extra-legal force from Levi’s and their right to market clothes with the tab. They, therefore, have to produce a certain percentage of Levi’s products with a plain Tab and just the trademark symbol. This shows that Levi’s owns trademark rights of the Tab itself, not just Levi’s wording.

I found this info while googling how to find style numbers on tags that don't have 505, 501, 511, etc on the label. Do you know much about that? I have a pairof old man's Levi's and where it normally has the style number there is a longer number written one over 4 digits...

erickanderson19 @elisa7joy Vintage orange tab Levi's (and a few red tab) have the entire PC9# where the style number is on the back patch on modern Levi's. I'm not sure what the first 2 #'s are for but #'s 3-5 are the style code followed by a dash and #'s 6-9 which are the color code. Example: if you look at the back patch on a pair men's orange tab standard bootcut jeans it will have 00517-0217 where the modern Levi's have the 3 digit style code. Hence, the style # is 517 and the color code is 0217.

erickanderson19 @elisa7joy The 0217 color code is for the dark blue indigo color they used to use on multiple different styles from the mid 80's back. If you look at the back patch on orange tab 505's, 509's, 516's, 517's and 519's they all predominantly have the 0217 color code. I know that was an earful but hopefully it helps.

ohyeahbuythat @rerebella yes, you can sell them but I would definitely disclose in my listing that there is no tag. you can also disclose about the r trademark symbol and use a copy of what I wrote if that helps you. happy selling!

bohobyhope I have a pair of my dad’s from the late 70’s. This pair has the same Trademark symbol (instead of brand name), but it’s also an Orange tab. I’ve sold another Orange tab pair for 150ish, but this pair seems far more unique, and I couldn’t find another pair like it anywhere online. Do you have any suggestions for what I should do with them?

k_l_r The blank tabs are custom fit Levi's. You could order a pair at their boutique focused stores (Malibu when it was open, Meatpacking in NYC). Customers could order jeans to their specific dimensions. I ordered a pair from the Malibu store in 2011 and it's one of my favorite pairs.

janelglover I came across your statements on Levi’s by way of Google. I also sell on Posh. I have an unusual pair of Levi’s with the “blank” tab but what’s even more unusual Is the tag. It’s pink and appears to be leather. There’s no style number on it, just the standard Levi Strauss logo. They are button fly but the top button is pink. Looking all over Google and have yet to find anything helpful. Any ideas?

anninmo67 @janelglover I’m going to guess that your pink one just got “bled” on from some red in a wash at some point. I sold vintage Levi’s in a consignment shop for 30 years and hadn’t seen that one. 😊 One out ten is a blank tab. Do some Googling, (especially images) and you’ll be surprised what you’ll learn. 😉

janelglover @anninmo67 I’m under the impression that this was something Victor Abloh did with Levi’s. I have since found a jacket with a pink metal button as opposed to the standard. I think they’re both valuable. Somewhat rare.
