Introducing the Pick-a-Stick Question Kit: Select a book with strong literary concepts and uncomplicated story elements. Gather students together and hold up the Question Kit. Explain that the questions are divided up into different categories. Define the categories and their degree of difficulty. Allow students to come up and pick a Question Stick. Ask them to read the question and try to find the answer as you read the story. Afterward, allow students to share the answers they found. Divide students into groups. Give each group the same text and assign them a category from the Question Kit.
