Large Vintage Wicker w vintage cloth leather woven in to the design. A stunning basket you will certainly adore. RARE classic vintage gathering basket that is a medium to large. It is approximately 18” tall to top of handle, 11” long across largest part of basket, and 15” wide from handle to handle, opening 8in width x 11in length, depth 11in It features a woven handle. Intricate wicker weaving on each side base of the handle is in the God's Eye pattern and adds such great detail. The body of the basket is the buttocks style, egg basket, egg gathering basket. It is made with some integrated cotton off white woven cloth with an over-weave of thick gray wool thread. The thread is cross stitch very sturdy, just as sturdy as the wooded twigs. It also, upon close inspection, looks to be braided along all the sides that meet the wicker. I read the cloth was woven through and used on the farm to gather and protect the eggs from breaking when gathering. The bottom is just amazing comprised with intricately chosen twigs curated to fit the form of the basket. Overall it is AMAZING. Basket is a decent weight due to all the fabric woven over this large size basket. Approx. weighs 3 pounds. Purchased at an estate sale. There are some smudges on the fabric bottom of the basket so not really seen.
