Lapponia Sz 7 "Diplomatic," Modernist Sterling Ring c. 2000, Poul Havgaard, 10g

Selling my beloved Lapponia "Diplomatic" sterling silver ring from the early 2000s, no longer fits. Smooth, poetic, modern design by Poul Havgaard for Lapponia is so comfortable. Felt like it was made for me. Purchased at an artisanal jewelry shop in Piermont, New York, across the Hudson River from NYC. Includes certificate of authenticity and sparkly padded Lapponia bag. The 7mm high band is separated horizontally by a raised line that undulates around the exterior. To one side, the silver is smooth, on the other a bit textured, a subtle difference. I see it as a landscape--sea and sky, snowdrift and cloud. Or just a cool abstract design that goes round to infinity. Each quarter-inch twist gives you a different view. Note that I lightly cleaned the ring (briefly dipped in baking soda & warm water with aluminum foil), but left oxidation in place. It is shiny with character. It is not as dark and textured as some photos suggest. The ring does show normal wear but no damage. (Personally I like the lived-in look of vintage silver.) I will miss this ring but hope it brings joy to someone else.
