LAVISH DESIGNER 1950s' YELLOW STRAW WIDE BRIM HAT + FABRIC FLOWERS

This is truly a remarkably stunning yellow straw wide brim hat by famous designer J. HOWARD HODGE. The crown is made of yellow netting, and is surrounded by a matching color gauze-like fabric band, and a very large brim. At one side for the crown there is a bouquet of coordinating fabric flowers. there is an elastic band attached to the inside to help keep the hat in place. Label: J HOWARD HODGE J. Howard Hodge (1893-1966) was recognized as one of America's foremost milliners, particularly in the 1950s and 1960s.Hodge was known for bringing Parisian fashion trends to the American market. He was a milliner to First Lady Mamie Eisenhower. Vintage hats by G. Howard Hodge are considered iconic examples of mid-century millinery and can be found in various museums.
