LARGE quahog shells

Lot of 15 large (largest dimension greater than 1 inch) purple and white quahog shells. You will get a random assortment similar to the groupings pictured. Beautiful to display in a bowl or jar or for making jewelry (wampum). All pieces are shaped by the waves and sustainably collected by me on the New England coast. They have been washed with mild soap and water. There may be slight imperfections because they are natural as I found them, contributing to their beauty. Wampum has played a significant role in Native American culture for thousands of years. The shell beads are traditionally used as an adornment or for rites of passage. Highly valued for their beauty and durability, strings of these shell beads were America's first standard currency.
