Very precious Kutani Japanese fine porcelain figurine of a curled up, peacefully sleeping large cat or kitten with crackled white glazed finish is lavishly hand painted in 24-karat gold with guided markings and gray/blue painted accents and features a large red and green bow with gold bells. From the Taisho period, this work is called, "Nemuri Neko" which means peaceful or sleeping cat. It is inspired by a Japanese National Treasure, a wooden sculpture at the Toshougu shrine in Nikko, by acclaimed sculptor Hidari Jingoro, and represents peace of mind. Japanese hallmark pressed into the bottom. Very good condition, original condition unaltered, some imperfections in paint and small scratch in paint please see photo. Details:
