Kate Greenaway Nursery Rhymes Child's Teaset Metropolitan Museum of Art Reutter The designs on this child-sized porcelain tea set were inspired by the water color illustrations by Kate Greenway (British, 1864-1901), from the Mother Goose manuscript (1880), now in the collection of The New York Public Library. The nursery rhymes are reproduced exactly as they were written in her manuscript. The Museum's tea set is decorated with applied decal designs and hand-painted trim. Nursery rhymes featured include Little Jumping Joan, Little, Bo-Peep, Little Tommy Tucker, and Little Miss Muffet. The teapot has the "Polly Put the Kettle On" verse on the back. The mugs have verses on one side. All pieces are in excellent condition. Plates measure 6 3/4 inches across, the cups are ~ 2 1/2 inches high and 2 1/4 inches across.
