This is a Jefferson Cup, made by Kirk Stieff, bright finish - NEW. "Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation" is imprinted on the bottom. As this is a handmade item, there are slight variances (please see photo #3 showing a small imperfection on the lip of the cup). The last image is a stock photo.
"A Jefferson Cup is a small, shallow drinking vessel traditionally used for serving wine or spirits. In 1810, Thomas Jefferson commissioned a Virginia silversmith to craft eight tumblers from silver cups he inherited from his friend and teacher, George Wythe. The silver tumblers remained at Monticello for the rest of Jefferson's life and were a regular fixture on his dining table. Jefferson Cups are often used today as decorative items, awards, or keepsakes, symbolizing hospitality, and American history. Exquisitely simple, extremely versatile, these pewter Jefferson cups are as suitable for serving a festive punch as they are for holding cufflinks or paper clips. Holds approximately 7 oz. Gift boxed. Made in the U.S.A."
