Handpainted J.P.L. Jean Pouyat Limoges France 9" Plate w/Gold Trim. White Art Co. Chicago Leaves and berries Limoges hand painted plate by White's Art Company, Chicago. The White's Art Company, Chicago, Illinois was largely a family business of three sisters, Ida, Sarah and Ellen. It was started in 1914 and continued until 1923. Identified as "china decorators," the business was largely on the student side and therefore few examples bearing the red triangle mark have survived. They were in competition with the best decorators of the era, Pickford, Stouffer, Brauer, etc and had several of Pickard's artists work for them for a time. This lovely hand painted cabinet plate is beautifully decorated with flowers, brown foliage against a yellowish cream background with narrow gold edge trim on rim The plate measures 9 inches across and is stamped with the red triangle mark, "White's ARt Chicago - hand painted"; as well as "JPL France" The plate is artist signed "HIGH.`(see picture)There are no chips, cracks or repairs.
