Japanese old Arita porcelain tea cup with transparent mesh pattern

Ceramic Japanese old Arita porcelain tea cup with transparent mesh pattern ARITA-yaki porcelain is manufactured in the areas around Saga Prefecture.It is characterized by its beautiful white color that was once praised as "white gold" by European aristocrats. Because of its beauty, it was displayed in museums and palaces around the world, and was admired as a work of art for people of noble status. It is light, thin, strong, and does not absorb water or dirt easily. This cup is from a kiln called as "Kimpo-kiln" which has a long history and is known for their technique of transparent mesh pattern. This work is made by combination of thin strong glaze and twisted clay strings. Peonies are painted in indigo around the body and also on a lid. A signature of kiln is on the bottom. This cup is precious in terms of having two major characteristics of Arita porcelain.
