Meaningful James Avery .925 sterling cross pendant fashioned with leather. Measures approximately 20 inches with a pendant measuring 1/2 x 7/8 inch. Pre-loved.
James Avery founded his namesake company in 1954 in Kerrville, Texas. He started in a two-car garage where he set up a workbench making Christian-themed designs. Avery sent out his first mail-order catalog in 1957. He also hired his first employee that year, Fred Garcia, who assisted with all aspects of fabrication and trained many other metalsmiths working for the firm as it grew. Garcia remained with James Avery until he retired in 1977.
The name changed to James Avery Craftsman, Inc. when the company was incorporated in 1965. Two years later, a new facility was built in Kerrville. The first retail store was also launched in Kerrville in 1973.
