JUDGE DEE 1st U.S. Edition / Necklace And Calabash / ROBERT VAN GULIK / 1967-71

It seems every new generation that comes along discovers the ‘Judge Dee’ mysteries written by Robert Van Gulik between 1951 and 1968. As there have been many reprints over the years, it is becoming very difficult to find a rare first American edition like this one. “Necklace And Calabash” was first published in English in the United Kingdom in 1967 but wasn’t released in the United States until 1971, four years after Van Gulik’s death. This ex-library book is in very good condition for its age with some library markings in the front (see photo). The original, unclipped dust jacket is in good condition with some wear along the top edge (see photo).
