Previous owner added a hidden zipper. Outside looks great, I tried it on and it lays nicely. Inside looks like it was hand sewn and a little lumpy and could be done a bit more professionally but does not show and it does look nice on outside. It is a better choice than the snaps which when on the side, I find they open up sometimes. So this is probably an improvement lol.
