Indian Ethnic Art Hand Made Crushed Gemstone Painting 6.5" x 5" Pre-owned

The art of gemstone painting was developed in Rajasthan about two hundred years ago. The specialty of this decorative painting style is that the shades of color are provided by the semi precious stones instead of paints. The stones are carefully selected, ground and pasted by accomplished and experienced craftsmen. This lovely 6.5"×5" piece features an incredibly detailed portrait of a seated Indian woman with an intricate background. Included on the back are the types of gemstones used to create this art. Made in Jaipur ,India this piece was created in the 1960' and in very good vintage condition.
