The Galaxy dress was introduced in 2005 & reissued nearly 17 years later! It was the look for women who wanted to look sexy yet classic, & was worn by everyone from Halle Barry and Naomi Watts to Dita Von Teese, Victoria Beckham, Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Rachel Weisz & Sienna Miller. The dress is made of wool crepe that holds its shape. Underneath the fabric, powerflex, an elasticised mesh underlay (used in corsets in the 1950s) is the secret to the shaping. With darts at the bust & waist, it pulls in the waist, pushes up the bust & sucks in the bottom. The sleeves with the folded detail at the shoulder also added width to the shoulder line & help create an hourglass shape. The arm hole is large enough to slim the arm. The square neckline emphasizes décolletage & draws the eye to the face. The length of the dress is a universally flattering midi. Of the dress's success, Mouret said it was due to magic.
