They are quite light in weight especially when you consider the size. They seem to consist of little irregularly shaped balls or beads of enamel which have been adhered somehow to the actual earring hoop. The hardware itself is gold toned. These are new in a package. They would work beautifully anytime during the holiday season, but by NO MEANS need to be limited to just that time of year- they would look great with black outfits, white, pink, navy, mint, baby blue… so many options!
