I was recently duped to the tune of $100 dollars so I thought I'd share and maybe save someone else some time and money! I've included some pictures of cosmetic differences but other tells include very light cheap feeling packaging, horrid plastic smell, difference in quality/pigmentation (see the last photo where I compare authentic ND color on the left with the same color from the fake palette on the right).

dancer285 @tinymama85 I didn't notice a huge difference in the shine level actually! I think the biggest tell for me was the lettering and stitching. I would suggest asking for better pictures or at the very least purchase from a sight with a good return policy! Once you receive it you should be able to tell right away because the fake ones smell AWFUL.

dancer285 @tinymama85 definitely a good idea! There are a lot of these floating around that are fake and sellers are asking near full price. It's such a bummer :/ My other rule of thumb is usually if the price is too good to believe you've probably got a fake 😬

dancer285 @tinymama85 no problem! Both will actually have a serial number on the side of the box but the font and size may be different. Wish I had a pic of it! The number should definitely be an indentation not printed though if that makes sense. Also any kind of sloppy stitching on the front is usually a dead give away. I've found ND has pretty good quality control

nreppep Thank you for this. I bought a green/brown palette off of someone for $50. I had previously bought the Star Palette off of them and that was real, so I was hoping this was too! And thanks to this...I know it totally is real! I guess the girl doesn't know what she has ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

dancer285 @malsr2015 your best bet would be to see if Sephora carries it and go swatch side by side. You’ll know instantly that way! I’ve never actually seen a 5 pan knock off pallette so it’s hard for me to say. Honestly though some of the knockoffs are so bad you know instantly when you swatch. ND’s formula for her original eyeshadows are pretty distinctive

malsr2015 @dancer285 I swatched it and it's great so I believe its authentic. Very pigmented and no chemical smell. I worry a lot about the stuff they put in fake makeup since they don't have any standards to go by when they make them. Yuck!!🤢

dancer285 @fitstyleaddict when I bought my fake one I opened up a case with Poshmark! It was a bit of a back and forth because they initially said there wasn’t an issue but eventually I got refunded for my purchase. So definitely don’t accept the order until you’ve looked it over and open a case if you don’t think you got sent a real one!

sheenabaumbach I bought a 5 pan #4 that seems a little suspect- the formula is ok... I guess, not much experience with ND. But the case is different than my other 5 pan that was purchased from Sephora. Like theres a place to hold an eyeshadow brush but none of the pictures online look like that. Anyone? Any help is appreciated. Also Thank you for this post! I was sold a fake Too Faced Peachy Mattes Palette from someone on Poshmark- an ambassador no less! Who had the nerve 2 call me a “ Predatory buyer” . Wow!

dancer285 @sheenabaumbach I’ve had a few other people express concerns about a 5 pan. To my knowledge, ND has never sold a brush with any of her palettes or had a brush holder in the palettes so I would say on that alone it’s probably fake :(

audracook1115 Js there a way to spot a fake biba pallet. I just ordered one and it arrived today and while it looks pretty and all some of the shades were as pigmented as I was expecting. My Tati pallet has better pigment. I ordered the metropolis pallet from beautylish though cause I was scared to rebuy

dancer285 @audracook1115 I don’t really have first hand experience with that palette but I would say the best way would be to go to a store that stocks them and compare side by side. The differences should be easily noticeable that way! It’s a little harder to judge based on pigment alone these days since I’ve noticed a small decrease in quality with some of her more recent releases, but I still think for her larger palettes the quality should still be pretty mind blowing 😁

audracook1115 @dancer285 I did some research and I feel like maybe it is real, I think I just had expectations that were too High 😅😂😂 the blendability and over all pigment in a couple matte shades was underwhelming but then again, the Tati pallet really did blow me away and I’ve had tons of pallets and brands. I hope the metropolis blows me away a little more
