Homer Laughlin Vintage Bowls for a Brave New World Made in the U.S.A.

Each bowl is decorated with yellow and red flowers with light and dark green leaves. The larger bowl is 9 3/8ths inches across the top; it is approximentally 3 inches tall. The smaller oval shaped bowl is 8 7/8ths inches long, 6 5/8ths incheswide, and 1 1/8th inches deep. Think 'chips and dip.' There are some rim issuses that give character. Homer Laughlin China Company established a small pottery plant—one of the first whiteware plants in the United States—in the early 1870s. The two-kiln firm, located in East Liverpool, Ohio, was first founded by brothers Homer and Shakespeare Laughlin as Ohio Valley Pottery. 1932 - 1968 Marks with date codes from mid-1932 to 1968 will have: Made in USA a single letter for the month (A=Jan, B=Feb, C=March, etc.) a double digit number for the year (32=1932, 33=1933,..., 64=1964, 65=1965, etc) an "N" for the Newell potteries in Newell, West Virignia a 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 for the specific plant number. The larger bowl is marked A 35 N 4 = January 1935 Newell plant number 4 (87 years old). The oval is marked February 1934 Newell plant number 4 (88 years old) I did some research and never imagined these bowls to be from the 1940's; I thought maybe the 1950's. Remodernize them for fun food and dips. I had a rose pattern bowl and smaller bowl that I sold years ago. Egg shell white with the yellow, red, light and dark green. Make them a central part of your entertainment setting. They have lasted this long! I can just imagine how dear articles were.
