Vintage 1990 Mexique Hermès scarf. Aztec design with bright red border and bright cobalt blue feathers and gold accents. Designed by Caty Latham. Mexique Hermès silk scarf (100% silk) Designed by Caty Latham in 1985, 1991/1992 reissued Excellent Vintage Condition - never worn kept in original box. Measures approx. 36" x 36" Inspired by Mexico’s Aztec culture, Madame Latham’s Mexique Hermès carre beautifully incorporates sculpture and jewelry of this ancient Mesoamerican civilization, creating a dramatic and memorable composition. One of the Aztec god statues dedicated to Pitao Cozobi, the God of the all-important Corn crops, takes center stage in the Mexique Hermès carre. Parts of Aztec complex solar calendar can be seen behind the statue of Pitao Cozobi. Jewelry was another very important aspect of this caste culture and thanks to the Mexique Hermès carre some of them have been preserved in Caty Latham’s creation. In this version of the Mexique Hermès it combines complementary cobalt blue tones with yellows and reds thus creating a scarf that adds a cheerful “punch” to any neutral palette.
