My fellow Poshers - this has gotten out of hand. The scammers are out in full force!
How NOT to get scammed:
•Check user name/photo. If it’s a professional looking photo of a really pretty girl, but their user name is “dennis098765973”, it’s probably a scam.
•check when the account was created. If it’s within a month or two, do additional checking. See below….
•check their closet - most of the scammers have just ONE item listed. Some have many, so keep reading below.
•if they have several items, check the background of the photos in the listing. When I list my items, the photos are almost always in one of two rooms. Anyone seeing my closet can easily tell, these ARE my items, not stolen photos.
•check feedback. If they have a whole closet full of designer goods, but NO lovenotes/feedback - it’s probably a scam.
•do a quick search for the same item. Are other listings using the same photos? Scammers are swiping photos from other listings. If a search turns up several listings and the photos are identical - it’s a scam
•ask the seller for a photo of the bag (or shoe/shirt/pants/jewelry) with todays date. NOTE: if the seller has a name card in the listings - make sure the name on the card matches the username/name on the “about page”. Believe it or not, scammers will 100% post a name card from another listing.
•if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
Shop safe, folks. Scammers amp up during the holiday season.

thank you for this heads up !!! Sad that people make a living scamming others. Most of what i purchase from this site are gifts for my loved ones. i had my account recently hacked and had to create a whole new one. I am not a seller but I had so many sellers I was following and trusted but now having to start over. so frustrating.

@c_michalec I absolutely hate hearing this! I’m sorry that happened to you. I had to do the same. My account I had for several years was hacked - and I wound up just closing it out and making a new one. It’s been a mess around here for buyers - but it’s definitely doable as long as buyers do their research. In my case, I’m a purse-nut! I buy/sell frequently. There is no worse feeling than buying that bag you just HAVE to have, and finding out you were scammed. :(

Thank you for this warning! I’ve already been scammed with a Kate Spade bag that turned out to be fake and also damaged insides.
