This is a unique and beautifully crafted hand carved wooden box made from koa wood (from Hawai'i; the top and bottom of the box) and coconut wood (2 sides of the box). Hawaiian Koa, Acacia Koa, has been treasured for hundreds of years by the Hawaiians and it is native to Hawai'i. It has been used in many ways, from outrigger canoes, paddles, boxes, and furniture, to Ukuleles. The supply of Koa is scarce as the Hawaiians have only recently started replanting their beloved Koa trees. Koa is renowned for its iridescent shimmer and luscious color which ranges from tan, red, to warm gold with brown and black accents. The luster in this wood is particularly exceptional.
