Harry’s Bar Venezia Vintage Ashtray - Venice - Ernest Hemingway Vintage ashtray from the iconic Harry's Bar which is a landmark in in Venice Italy. This is an early version of this ashtray which has been hand decorated and air brushed, which has been discontinued decades ago. It is in very good condition with a few discoloration spots and a tiny glaze chip. Unlike others I have seen the colours on the on the bartenders glasses have not faded on this piece. Measures 6" long x 4" wide x 1.25" deep Harry's Bar was opened in 1931 by Giuseppe Cipriani and a young American, Harry Pickering. Harry's Bar quickly became a gathering place for an amazing list of famous people: Ernest Hemingway, Gary Cooper, Arturo Toscanini, Charlie Chaplin, Somerset Maugham, Georges Braque, Alfred Hitchcock, Jimmy Stewart, Truman Capote, Orson Welles, Joe di Maggio, Aristotle Onassis, Peggy Guggenheim, Katherine Hepburn, and George Clooney.
