sadierobertson I was thinking about our “talk” and realized you sew all these yourself so you wouldn’t want to go to big show anyway. You could get an order too large and put yourself out of business. Where do you live? By a large city? Right now is a good time to find upscale stores that you could sell to. A rep might be in the city. Let me know what city you are close to and I’ll give it a think!

dianeludwig @sadierobertson. Hi. I don’t sew which is why my costs are high. I can paint and design which I why I want to manufacture in India (with linens). I’m not in a “city” as I’m in Orange County, CA. I’d like to sell my stock to help pay forward for part 2. Most high end shops near me follow the African muted trend. I need to find timeless high end shops or retail shows to sell. Americans seem to love linens and pay dearly for them. So I wanted to move in that direction.

dianeludwig @sadierobertson (continued) I considered Renegade shows but not wholesale shows until I have a line of manufactured samples. Any wholesale show has to be with high end clientele, which means east coast, probably NY. If I could get into Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, The Hamptons etc I’d be happy. It’s an eye opener what people pay consumables vs non consumables, a different mentality than what I’m use to in Europe, perhaps east coast is different...? Thank you, Diane

sadierobertson @dianeludwig yes I can see that is hard. Have you looked into LA fashion center? They have more than just clothing. Well your merch looks great and I give them high fives! What about stores in Santa Monica? Very high end stores all around? Not the promenade.

sadierobertson Also building a lookbook might be a starting point. I worked at Crate and Barrel in the beginning of the company. Gordon and his wife opened a small store and when the product from Europe came in they just showed them in barrels. And the rest is history so they stay.

dianeludwig @sadierobertson Thanks. I created a look book on Shutterfly. I don’t know Lala land very well. I recently walked the design center - same global brands. I will go to Santa Monica and check out. I was in Santa Barbara recently. Most all high-end is gone from State Street and many empty store fronts. Most of Montecito was closed by the time I got there. I guess a road trip is in order. I’d happily pay for a rep who has contacts once I have the manufactured samples.

dianeludwig @sadierobertson A thoughts my friend had to to offer turning kids art into pillows etc. I did this for a friend in Montecito and says the parents think nothing of spending the money. Also taking old sweatshirts, t-shirts one cannot part with and add fabulous trims and repurpose. My Juxtapose brand is refurbished antiques with fun, fresh textiles. I know where to buy the antiques cheaply. See www.madebydiane.com. 😃 thank you!
