Handmade inlaid Syrian jewelry box

This is a jewelry box I bought in Syria in the early 1990s, before civil war tore the country apart. It is handmade by a master craftsman, not a tourist piece. The inlaid pieces are primarily wood, with a few pieces of mother of pearl added for decoration. It is lined inside with red felt. I bought it at Dabdoub Brothers, a high end antiques and crafts store in the Old City souk in Damascus. I paid $300, or possibly more, for it and never used it. It has sat in a drawer wrapped in felt ever since. It measures 11 inches long, 4-3/4 inches deep and 2-1/2 inches high. Never used, in excellent condition.
