Handmade Resin Gold Edge Paperweight Round Botanical Rose of Sharon Specimen

- Rustic, clear resin paperweight with a rounded, domed shape - Unique, one of a kind, with seven dried Rose of Sharon seed pod botanical specimens captured inside - Rose of Sharon, or Hibiscus Syriacus, blooms in the summer and comes in many colors. In the fall, it produces oval seed pods that later, burst open in a five pointed star - The resin’s magnification allows you to see the delicate plant up close, right before the pods burst open - Pods are set against a white canvas background and the dried plant has an icy, silvery finish - The edge of the paperweight has gold leaf, which is laid in an informal pattern, and is backed by black felt to protect the surfaces it sits on - This is a handmade item which I created as a sample to test various dried seed pods, and a limited edition. The seed pods were dried ahead of time, and the resin was poured into a mold, then allowed to dry for several days before the felt and gold were applied - This has imperfections, such as tiny nicks, scrapes and minor scratches, all part of the resin making process, but I think it adds to the sublime and ethereal quality of the piece. In addition, it has a slight matte look to the dome finish, giving it the appearance of something older - If you are fascinated by plants, this might be an interesting piece for you.
