Handmade 100% undyed Alpaca knit on my sock machine and finished by hand. This headband was knit for a slightly smaller head circumference (about 21”) see pic of tape measure to figure out how to measure your head. I knit this band with black Lycra to give the color some depth. It looks great on dark hair.

@abundantsol hi, sorry I missed your question a few days ago. The twist part of these headband is where the seam is hidden and it would be difficult to get a seamless join because these are knit in a tube. Let me think on it for a day or so, I have one I just made so I’ll see if I can seam it up. Thanks for your interest in any case!

@lmgkaiser thanks for your reply. I really dont mind the seem. I would have that behind the neck anyway. Do these have a slight stretch naturally form the alpaca knit?

@abundantsol yes, anything knit from 100% Alpaca can stretch, I like to knit that fiber as bit tighter to prevent it from stretching too much.

@lmgkaiser ok great. Well I’d like to get an order or two of them from you if that’s possible. I haven’t ordered a custom through this app before, so not sure how it works?

@abundantsol Hi, so a few questions for you, I usually knit undyed Alpaca with a cobweb Lycra so it holds its shape (as seen in the headband I have listed here. Otherwise after you wear it a few times it will stretch out-is that ok with you?
I’ll need you to measure the circumference of your head as shown on the white form. Your headband needs to be about an inch smaller. I might be able to get the undyed in gray (I’ll know tomorrow), would you like one of each?

As long as I can get the yarn I should be able to have them ready to ship next Saturday. I’ll create a listing with the two headbands and tag you.

@lmgkaiser so I measured and my head is 23”. I would like to start with one and see how it goes. (I have family and friends who would be interested as well) the tan is fine. I’m just trying to decide if I should get it with or without the Lycra. I know it’s functional but I don’t like the idea of plastics on my forehead. What is the percentage you usually use of Lycra roughly? Thanks

@abundantsol hi, I priced out the yarn and it has literally tripled in price since I last purchased it so I unfortunately I won’t be able to knit them for you. My suggestion would be to reach out to your local yarn store as they usually have people who will “knit for hire”.

Regarding the Lycra, I totally understand but I can almost guarantee that unless you have something to stabilize the knitting it will stretch like crazy and quickly become unwearable. You might be able to find someone who would back a headband with a natural fiber like wool felt. Good luck in your search!
