Labu Sayong is a type of pottery container used to store water and is made of tanah liat (clay). In Malaysia, Labu Sayong making is very synonymous to Kuala Kangsar, Perak. It is said that Labu Sayong was developed among the original heirs of a potter from the Kampung Kepala Bendang, Kuala Kangsar. Labu Sayong is more than a simple water storage, as each one is carved with unique traditional motifs that have been passed down for generations. Among the patterns that are carved on the container are Bunga Tanjong, Bunga Cengkih and Bunga Cakar Ayam. Generally the patterns that are carved and found on the containers are from nature. Labu Sayong is usually made in two colours, which are black and brown. This one is black.
