The design is painted from the backside. The saving side is smooth. The design has fruit and flowers around the rim with a yellow border. In the center is a yellow checkered design with vines. Since it is hand painted, there's some variation from plate to plate. In very nice condition with 2 plates show a small spot where the paint has chipped. Otherwise, no other issues to report.
