amolannata @thriftologyshop we purchased this item from an antique vendor. I believe it is carved in a style called Jali and is from India. It is intricately hand carved. The elephant being pregnant is representing fertility. Soapstone is amazing because it goes through a metamorphosis over time and ages beautifully. Not sure of its age unfortunately it is hard to tell without an expert opinion. Thank you for your interest.
